One word to sum up the book is: Adorkable. I especially enjoyed this book, not because of it's sweet, lovely romance but the addition of the humor and nerd references definitely added bonus points for me. I loved how the main character is a book blogger and how she makes references to romance book heroines and herself. I felt they were spot on and I may have once or twice found myself thinking similar thoughts in my personal life.

The main character is sweet and likeable. You can't help but like Viv, but there are moments where she knows she's making strange choices but sticks with her logic even though she knows she shouldn't and as a reader I can't help but want to yell or roll my eyes at her. Still I see why she did it, but it's just a character making bad decisions but they weren't terrible so I allowed her those mistakes since they seemed reasonable. Aside from those poor choices, you can tell that Viv is genuinely a kind person willing to help others although she does make flawed thoughts based on her hurt feelings but she makes it up in the end. That's one of the things I loved about this book. The heroine tries to make up for her misdeeds even though she didn't have to and her misdeeds weren't as terrible as others I've seen, in book and in real life.

I really enjoyed the love interest, he's adorable and nerdy but for some reason I didn't quite understand his insta-love for the main character. I mean I'm glad that they were together but couldn't believe he would fall for her so easily even if he is the new guy. Once I got to know Dallas, I fell for him more. He's a great guy and loved how caring and understanding he was that I couldn't help but swoon. He is truly a character with many talents and I loved how dimensional he was and it truly makes you think about judging a guy based on his looks.

I loved all the main supporting characters. I felt that Viv had an awesome group of friends. They supported and encouraged her even when she made bad decisions or decisions they didn't agree with but they helped her see them through. I wished more books had supportive friends like this and I am glad to read and see this in the book. Reading about her relationships with her friends made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The writing was great, I found myself picking it up and diving right in and didn't want to stop. The pace was great and just took hold of me as I went through Viv's journey. I did notice a few inconsistencies in the book but my enjoyment of the book overshadowed those small moments. I felt the writing was simple and to the point with a few flourishes here and there. The flourishes weren't overdone and was just enough to get the meaning across in a graceful manner. I loved the witty/nerdy banter between the two leads and the main character and her almost-brother-in-law. I would have liked to see her banter more with her female friends. I found myself chuckling quite a few times while reading. I didn't burst out laughing but I was enjoyably amused by the humorous moments in the writing.

Overall, I highly recommend this book if you want a light, fluffy, and sweet romance. Bonus points if you enjoy Star Trek, nerdy humor, or are a romance book blogger. If you meet any of those criteria, you'll find a little bit of yourself in this book. I know I did. :)

4 out of 5 rating for me!

About the Author:

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.

Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.
