Review

SPOILER-FREE

Ms. Tyler has a wonderful poetic lilt to her writing. *fluttery sigh* It's so melodic and lovely that I could easily get lost in her world just because of her words and writing style. I had no problem getting into the mind of the main character or seeing through her eyes.

I didn't understand or know the Greek Mythology this story was based off at first but you'll quickly understand as you read it. I was too impatient and looked it up online when I should have just read the next couple of pages. It explained it all. That was my fault but my confusion did nothing to hinder the story.

While the main character is interesting, I wasn't sure I believed how quickly she learned to speak and became accustomed to Earth. Also the story did leave me with a few unanswered questions which wasn't too important but still slightly bothers me but not enough to stop my enjoyment of the story.

I liked where the story led up to but I felt like the pacing to the climax had been gradual and then the climax hit and that was it. Overall, reading it sort of felt like riding a one hill roller coaster where the build up was longer than the pay off, which is the rush going downhill, or in this case the climax. We sort of just jump to the end and while it was fine and I am actually ok with it, I didn't really know what the main character's goal was until the end.

Still the ending is sweet and I recommend reading this short story if you like a modern twist on a Greek Mythology tale.

3.6 out of 5 for me!
