Greeting my originalities,

Many apologies for not updating in the last few months. Been busy with many RL things such as school/work/art. If you want to know more check out my dA, livejournal, or webcomic progress blog. I've been wanting to post here but was so caught up with things that I didn't even think about this blog. Finally something just hit me and I had to post it up.

"Willpower is the strength of mind to carry out one's goals."
-   Sandy Anderson

How many of you had to create your own willpower? I know I have to gather it everyday. Getting myself up, going to work, going to school, then back home and putting everything on repeat. It feels tiresome just to make sure I get things I need done, such as homework or other significant tasks. Let me also say I don't dislike my life, but sometimes, especially when I am in school I feel like things are dull and I do the same things again and again. I can say that the past few months have been off and on for this feeling but I try to spice it up once in awhile by hanging out with friends or splurging on myself although when you're born in one place and have grown up there all your life, it gets boring.

"Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation."
-   John F. Kennedy

Sometimes I just want to draw but never touch a pencil or drawing pad and just want to skip school all together. I know school is important but sometimes I feel like I stress myself out too much to get good grades instead of living life to its fullest extent. It gets to the point where I need to pray to God for every ounce of willpower I have to just keep going....Nevertheless, I've been trying to think of my education as a way to develop my skills and abilities, despite my strong dislike for programming. Additionally, I was able to meet nice people and learn more than I'll probably admit about programming languages.Maybe in the distant future I'll be able to use what I learned to create something inspiring and noteworthy that can be beneficial for others.

My Reasons

Hello there my little innovators,

Many of you probably wonder why I started this blog. At first it was to toss aside the cliches and stereotypes that people have on each other. However, now it's also to acknowledge those who are original in their ideas/ideals. I'm not going to lie, I will probably use comics as a lot of the examples as I don't usually follow anything else as closely. XD You all should know I'm a webcomic geek. lol

Anyways, the point of this blog is to encourage and support originality and individualism whether in the clothes you wear or the ideas you think. As many of you know, there are many people, men and women, who struggle with self-identity. The ones who may suffer from this the most are probably teens, but even as adults we continue to find our "true-selves". I am also continuously looking to find where I truly belong, but I am enjoying my journey to find and understand my true-self.

My reason to start this blog is to point out that it's OK for you to be yourself, and as long as you are fine with they way you are now, then be content with yourself. If you're not happy about it, then change it! The only person with the power to change you is yourself.

Or if that isn't working:
If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.
- Maya Angelou

With the help of family and friends, I'm finding it little by little. I hope you guys can find a support group as well.

I just want to challenge everyone to be who you are and be happy about it, no matter what anyone thinks or says. ^_^

Comic Review: Mars

Title: Mars
Creator: Fuyumi Soroyo
Publisher: Tokyopop
# books in series: 15 with one prequel oneshot
Status: Completed
Genre: Romance

(from wikipedia)
It follows the relationship of a disliked teenage romance between Kira Aso, an introverted artist, and Rei Kashino, a troubled playboy who is a professional motorcycle racer.

Kira Aso and Rei Kashino meet when Rei asks Kira for directions to a local hospital one day in the park, but instead of telling him the directions she draws him a map and hands it to him without saying a word. On the back of the directions is a picture Kira drew of a mother and child. On the first day of school they are both surprised to find that they are in the same class. Later Rei walks in on their teacher sexually harassing Kira. Rei promises to protect Kira in exchange for a painted version of the sketch that was on the back of the map. He also offers to "lend Kira his body" and she asks him to model for her.

Aisa's Thoughts
You know how most people start off reading manga with Sailor Moon or Dragonball Z? Well mine started with Mars. I thought it was fitting that I start my reviews with this because this manga was the one that started my whole journey into my manga obsession. I do enjoy a good romance that isn't too focused on the fluffy stuff. This has a thriller, a bit of mystery, and action. The characters are relateable and they develop at a reasonable pace. I also love the psychology of it, I never thought of characters to develop or behave in such a way. You'll have to read it to see what I mean.

The art definitely develops but it's the story that captured me. The realism of the characters are so detailed it brings them to life. I could imagine how they could behave and believe the reasoning behind the choices they make. I love how the characters grow throughout the series. The flow of the story is also very nice, it's refreshing and definitely a different take on life.

Start of Comic Reviews

So I've decided that since I don't update this blog that much that I'll use it as an original comic/manga/webcomic review blog as well. I will try to review mostly independent comics but I'll probably do a fair share of published comics if they have impacted me enough.

Just to let you know I'm only going to review the comics/manga I like or read. These will be my own personal opinions and thoughts on the comic so I'm open to constructive criticism but I don't want anyone flaming me. They will mostly be good reviews as I don't want to read things I don't enjoy. If this makes me small minded, well so be it. I have my thoughts and you have yours. Please just enjoy reading and don't take things too seriously. I know my grammar isn't the best but this is for fun, if you don't like it, you can leave.

Type of comics I review are usually romance, fantasy, psychological, mystery, and thriller comics. Yes, I'm a girl so I don't want gory or horror stuff so please keep this in mind when reading my blog. Although I don't think I'm that selective I am open to anything unique, colorful, or clever. Original is best for me but I'm willing to read cliched comics if they have a twist or interesting take on it.

Anyways, if you're a comic artist and would like me to review your comic feel free to shoot me an e-mail but there are no guarantees I'll actually do it. I'm kind of picky on the stories I read but if I like it then I will probably review it. Also I don't like to read strips, American-styled comics, or stories that are too abstract so please keep this in mind when sending my your comic.

Send me your comic to review

OriginiquEquanimity...the start of it all...

According to Dictionary.com:

Original = capable of or given to thinking or acting in an independent, creative, or individual manner
Unique = having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable
Equanimity = mental or emotional stability or composure, esp. under tension or strain; calmness; equilibrium

Original + Unique + Equanimity = OriginiquEquanimity

Have you ever been called or described as "weird", "abnormal", or more degrading, "freak"? I have, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

However, I think it's time to turn those words into a positive. What if the reason we were called weird is because we didn't go along with the rest of society because we're ORIGINAL? We are called abnormal because we think in UNIQUE ways much differently than the rest of the world. They call us a freak because we stand out and they just can't handle it.

You see, I have a thing for hoodies, I love them. I have tons in my closet and in the winter, I love to wear them. Sometimes I wear them in the summer. Does that make me a freak? Maybe. But that's something I'm proud of. They are comfortable and functional and I don't understand why more people don't wear them. That is the purpose of the last word EQUANIMITY which is that I'm content with myself. I wouldn't change that me because I'm happy with it. I'm sure there is something you have an obsession with and are perfectly happy with it. If you're happy and it isn't causing problems, then don't change it. If it is causing problems, try to find a happy medium.

There are plenty of things I would like to do and experience but until then, I'll keep the little things that make me happy. With these three words I hope to share it with the rest of the world and apply them to your everyday life. OriginiquEquanimity for your beliefs, ideas, and actions.

Until next time!
